Dr. Boothe of Boothe Laser Center is a qualified eye surgeon who has been helping people regain their vision and in many cases improve their life. Lasik and IntraLasik laser surgery are suited for majority of patients. Sometimes a patient is deemed as not a good candidate for laser eye surgery. In that case Dr. Boothe will consider alternative treatments to Lasik surgery, one of them is Epi-Lasik.
Epi-Lasik is an efficient procedure to improve vision. Patients with myopic astigmatism may be good candidates for this option. The major difference between a typical Lasik and Epi-Lasik procedures is in the length of the postoperative period. In comparisons made by researchers patients who had Lasik surgery had better visual abilities one month after surgery compared with patients who underwent an Epi-Lasik procedure. However, three month later some Epi-Lasik patients managed to achieve better than 20/20 vision and overall their visual abilities were identical to patients who had a Lasik surgery. In addition, patients who underwent an Epi-Lasik had fewer high-order aberrations after three months, in comparison with Lasik patients.
Dr. Boothe calls it Lasik. Over ten thousand of his patients call it a miracle.
Dan McDowell, co-host of BaD Radio, says: “One of my concerns was ‘Is this procedure long-lasting?’ I went to Dr. Boothe at Boothe Eye Care and Laser Center. They really make you feel comfortable. Dr. Boothe’s procedure is incredible. It has definitely changed my life”.
You can discover the difference Lasik can make at the Boothe Eye Care and Laser Center.
Lasik is a popular laser eye surgery that makes it possible to successfully correct patient’s eyesight in case one has refractive errors such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) or astigmatism. The recovery period after this procedure is usually short and uneventful if all the after-care instructions are followed, explains Dr. William Boothe. He also said that precautions should be taken, otherwise complications can occur in a small percentage of cases.
After the Lasik surgery, you will be provided by Dr. Boothe with special eye drops and instructed how to use them correctly. They will help you to avoid infection and hasten your recovery. When arriving home after surgery, it is advisable not to sleep immediately, but to moisten your eyes with the prescribed drops every five to ten minutes. Under no circumstances should you rub your eyes during the first few weeks after having Lasik as they are healing in this period and the thin flaps of corneas can even shift if you touch them.
In addition, sunglasses and clear plastic shields will be given to you by your surgeon for eye protection. Dr. Boothe advises to wear sunglasses when patients are outside, because your eyes are likely to be susceptible to light for the first few days after the surgery.
It is particularly important to be cautious when you take part in everyday life activities. You should avoid activities as sports and swimming for a period of time decided by your eye surgeon. Also it is better not to read much for a while in order to provide rest to your eyes and reduce eyestrain. During the recovery period, try to keep off windy environments and from any other type of air current that can cause your eyes to dry.
Dr. William Boothe worries about all of his patients and wants their eyesight to be the best it can be. If you follow all of his instructions and precautions as requested, it will considerably precipitate the recovery of your eyes and significantly reduce risks of complications.

For years, scientists and ophthalmologists have been looking for ways to improve the quality of the Lasik procedure. At the beginning, more than 10 years ago, the surgery was performed in two steps: making a corneal flap with a microkeratome (special handheld tool with oscillating metal blade) and then reshaping the cornea with an excimer laser. Undoubtedly, the microkeratome was very useful, but at the same time there is some inconsistency in the precision levels provided by this surgical instrument. In fact, Dr. Boothe recalls that patients expressed their wish to be operated in an all-laser Lasik procedure.
IntraLasik or All Laser Lasik was conducted for the first time in 2000, when corneal flap was created by the femtosecond laser instead of the traditional microkeratome, and thus became a breakthrough innovation in the Lasik procedure. One year later, IntraLase FS Laser has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and became commercially available. The Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center was one of the first centers in the country that started to offer this advanced procedure.
Nowadays the IntraLasik computer-controlled technology is considered the safest laser vision correction available. IntraLasik makes it possible to create the required flap with irreproachable precision and accuracy, thus eye surgeons can treat even patients who were once dismissed as candidates for laser correction because of their thin corneas. Of course, only the latest and most technologically advanced equipment has to be used during this kind of surgery. For example, Dr. William Boothe uses a combination of Intralase iFS Laser, Alcon LADARVision 4000, VISX STAR S4 Excimer Laser System and the Allegretto Wavelight Eye-Q Excimer Laser System in his office.
The main advantage of a flap created with IntraLasik over traditional Lasik is that there is a much better ability to customize the required flap thickness, the flap positioning on the cornea and the dimensions of the flap. Also, there is no physical contact of a microkeratome blade with the eye surface, because the corneal flap is made by femtosecond laser. This laser is very precise, safe, and makes it possible to achieve better visual results, and patients usually feel more confident with this state-of-the-art technology.
The super-precision IntraLasik method has been already appreciated at its true value on more than a million eyes. Among them, around 70,100 have undergone IntraLasik procedures at the Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center in Plano, Texas. Also, board-certified Dr. William Boothe is considered as the most experienced surgeon in the country for this type of laser.

Imagine how you would feel if you were unable to do basic activities like read a newspaper, drive your car or simply see our beautiful world in detail. Many people are conflicted with these issues and seek laser eye correction. There are many different treatment options for vision correction offered at Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center. The most advanced and recommended laser eye surgery procedure for visual correction today is Lasik.
During a Lasik surgery, Dr. William Boothe uses a Excimer laser which remodels the tissue beneath, and then the corneal flap is repositioned to its place and left to heal. This is the standard for laser eye correction.
IntraLasik is another type of Lasik laser eye correction procedure. IntraLasik is the only technology available that uses an FDA-approved laser used for the creation of corneal flap. IntraLasik uses a computer-controlled IntraaLase FS laser to create this flap.
Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center offers the latest WaveFront Mapping technology. This 3D technique helps to map out the cornea. During a Lasik or IntraLasik procedure, Dr. Boothe can customize the correction area and tissue removal. Thanks to WaveFront Mapping technology, it is possible to avoid such post-operative issues as halos or glare.
Excimer Laser Photo Refractive Keratectomy (PRK) is intended for patients who have thin corneas and other eye issues which cannot be treated by Lasik. PRK does not involve the use of cutting laser, such as the one used in Lasik.

This is an interesting question, mostly because IntraLASIK is Lasik. Lasik is a procedure where a flap is cut on the eye and then folded back. A laser is then used to reshape the eye and the flap is folded back into place. IntraLASIK does all of this with lasers, where as traditional Lasik used a blade. While the traditional version of lasik that used a blade is an effective procedure still practiced today, it is of some doctors opinions that the all-laser form, IntraLASIK, is a much safer surgery. With this added safety comes a cost though. IntraLASIK requires that a doctor buy the IntraLase laser to cut the flaps. Lasik Doctors are also required to pay more to use the laser, and this makes it a more expensive procedure to the end consumer. This is why, in my opinion, that many doctors still choose to use the traditional form of Lasik.
Dr William Boothe is one first lasik doctors in Dallas to see the benefit of using all-laser technology and is currently the most experienced all-laser IntraLASIK doctors in the world.
